Barack Obama

Democratic Nominee for the 2008 Presidency.  Former Illinois State Senator and currently U.S. Senator. 

Barack received his undergraduate education at both Occidental College and Columbia University with a major in Political Science.  Obama's graduate education was obtained at Harvard Law School.  Prior work experience included writer/researcher, community organizer, Director of Developing Communities Project (church-based community organization), and taught law at the University of Chicago Law School.  Barack Obama also practiced law from 1993-2002 with an emphasis in non-profits and urban development.

Politically Barack Obama began his public career in 1994 as an Illinois Senator where he served for 8 years.  After serving in the Illinois State Legislature Barack became a U.S. Senator in 2004-2008.


John McCain

Republican Nominee for the 2008 Presidency.  Current U.S. Senator and  Vietnam prisoner of war.

John graduated in 1958 from the U.S. Naval Academy and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.  During his military service, John's plane was shot down and being badly injured, John was captured.  As a POW (prisoner of war) McCain was held by the North Vietnamese for 5 and a half years.
